Your Ego Can Ruin Your Life If You Let It

I started this Blooming Season Blog in March of this year.

After a few days of posting daily, I thought it would be an incredible challenge to post daily for one entire year and so I began to write like a mad man.

Writing daily challenged my work ethic, my creativity and vulnerability.

I learned so much about myself, healed through days in which I thought I was not going to be able to write and by the grace of God I was able to.

This journey has been incredibly time consuming as well because I am currently a one women show.

Other areas of my life have been calling for my time and my ego has been screaming back saying, “LEAVE ANA ALONE SHE IS GOING TO FINISH WRITING 365 BLOGS IN 365 DAYS NO MATTER WHAT!”

I’ve been working on recognizing the root of my decision making.

So, I asked myself, “Did I decide to post daily because I wanted to share as much writing as I could to help others or did I decide to post daily because I wanted to prove something to myself?”

I took time to meditate and I found out that my ego was running the show.

My main purpose of this platform will always be to share stories, lessons I’m learning and encouragement but I do not have to post daily to reach that purpose.

My ego was raging and angry that I discovered its work behind the scenes, it screamed, “OH C’MON DON’T BE LAZY! YOU CAN DO 365 POSTS IN 365 DAYS! WHO CARES ABOUT THE REST OF THE THINGS IN YOUR LIFE? YOU’RE BEING LAZY!”

I thanked my ego, “Thank you for being as persistent as you are. I need you in my life to achieve great things but you are not the decision maker. So listen to me. This is the plan. Once I reach the 100th blog, I’m going to begin posting weekly instead of daily.”

My ego responded, “BUT THAT WOULD MAKE YOU A LAZY FAILURE!”

I ended the conversation by saying, “We’ve done 100 posts in 100 days my friend. That’s not failing. That’s success! Now, I’m going to need you for other projects and I will be posting blogs weekly from now on. After you stop crying you can join me.”

We must learn to recognize the voice of the ego and the decisions of the ego or it will ruin our lives.

The awesome thing is that we can ask ourselves questions to find the root from which our choices are made.

“Why did I post this picture?”

“Why did I say that?”

"Am I doing this out of love?"

We must make sure that our ego is not driving our life.

We will always need the power of the ego in the backseat because it produces a fire and resilience to climb great mountains that we sometimes think we are not be able to conquer.

But we cannot let the ego govern.

My ego was heading full speed towards 365 blogs in 365 days, but I noticed a need for my devotion in other areas of my life, so I fired my ego from the management and changed the plan.

It’s okay change plans, to strategize and adjust your life in a way that can help you advance.

My message for you today is to make sure that your ego isn’t leading you towards destruction.

Use the ego. Don’t let it use you.

I want to thank all of my daily readers for spending 100 days with me!

This is the end of the introduction series of the Blooming Season Blog.
