Breakthroughs Take Time

Consistency is vital for our growth journey.

There are certain things that I must do everyday, to not only keep my sanity in tact but to thrive mentally and emotionally.

Thriving, when it relates to your mental health, doesn’t always look like rainbows, smiles and cupcakes.

Sometimes thriving mentally and emotionally looks like, crying your face off as you’re writing in your journal or venting to a friend.

Today, I want to give you a gentle reminder that breakthroughs take time.

What do I mean by, “breakthroughs?”

A new discovery about yourself, a life shifting revelation or applying a lesson to your every day life instead of just carrying it solely in your intellect.

It’s like digging for gold. You will see lots of dirt before you come in contact with the gold but every scoop of dirt is important.

Some days feel like piles of dirt and by the end of the day I have to remind myself that not everyday will contain a breakthrough. But I can show up, determined, hopeful, with my shovel and ready to dig.

A well know radio host name Charlamagne recently tweeted something that shook me. He said, “Hope is not a strategy.”

Just like talent isn’t enough without work and work isn’t enough without faith.

Digging for gold isn’t enough without a strategy.

We can’t spend our whole live digging in the same place.

Like Albert Einstein said, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again.”

Hoping to feel better tomorrow is not enough.

Hoping to have a good day is not enough.

Hoping to have a positive attitude is not enough.

Hoping for a breakthrough isn’t enough without consistency or patience.

Patience with yourself on the days that you are moving slower than others because as long as you are moving, you are winning!

Being consistent doesn’t mean that you can never take a break.

This is when patience enters the chat and says, “as long as you are moving, you are winning.”

If you feel low today or overwhelmed, remember that you CAN do something about that emotion. You may not be able to eradicate the emotion completely but you can move your way closer to a breakthrough.

If you woke up feeling heaviness because of everything that is happening in the world, you CAN do something about it.

I am speaking to that feeling of helplessness that asks, “When is this going to be over?”

  • Write your thoughts on paper
  • Pray to God
  • Read encouraging quotes/watch encouraging videos
  • Spend time meditating on the word of God/watch a sermon online
  • Get creative and make something out of the box
  • Start a gratitude journal
  • Practice stillness/sitting in silence with you thoughts

These are all things that I will always encourage because the more I have practiced consistency with them, the more I have experienced breakthroughs and inner growth.

That’s all for today my friends, just a bit of encouragement and a loving reminder.

Be gentle with yourself.

Do not demand 100% from yourself in every moment of every day but keep moving, keep creating, keep growing, keep teaching and keep going.

Even if you’re moving slow. Movement itself is winning just like taking a break when you’re tired is winning.

You're alive, you have the ability to do anything and that automatically makes you a winner.

Your next breakthrough is waiting for you!
