Can I be honest?
I have been experiencing a lot of pain lately.
There have been many changes happening in my personal life, the overall climate of the world is heavy and the suffering of millions is palpable.
There have been days when I feel hopeless and just plain tired. The news is exhausting. Being aware, informing yourself without numbing yourself and being a human being is exhausting.
In the past two days, I have been feeling much lighter and stronger.
Although I had been feeling low, I was still doing the work, allowing the rain and pushing forward.
My actions cannot be determined by my feelings because if they were? I would be in my own little corner for most of the year LOL
I want to share 2 major experiences/revelations that I have had this week, that have led me towards a higher feeling and a deeper strength.
The first round of weights that were lifted off of my shoulders was on Monday afternoon.
I had been asked to record a 30 minute set of worship music for my church community.
I WAS NOT IN THE MOOD.
But I did it anyway.
I felt as if my soul had taken a shower afterwards.
30 concentrated minutes, focused on someone other than me and my feelings.
Sometimes we can get to caught up in our thoughts and unconsciously make every single thought about ourselves, our circumstance and our pain.
We begin to play the “Woe Is Me” song on repeat.
If you have been feeling heaviness? Do something for someone else for 30 minutes.
- Dedicate 30 minutes of prayer to someone else
- Sing worship to God for 30 minutes
- Give someone a call and listen to them for 30 minutes
Do something that requires your thoughts to be completely consumed and concentrated on someone else for 30 whole minutes.
That helped shift the position of my soul and I know it can help you whenever you may be feeling low.
I'm working towards turning this into a habit.
I challenge you to the 30 minute challenge this week!
This morning as I was going though my morning routine, I received a perspective shift and it took the rest of the weight that was left off of my shoulders.
It quickly popped into my mind : Your Trials Are Introducing You To Yourself
I had to share that with you guys.
I had gotten caught in a web of thoughts that was keeping me from moving forward into the light.
The web of thought consisted of statements like :
- This is not the reality that I want
- I cannot wait for this to be over
- THIS SUCKS
I felt a wave of acceptance this morning.
The truth is that the acceptance I give towards this moment will create new shifts within me.
The reality may not change right away but as we accept the reality, the paths begin to clear up and we will gain golden lessons.
Those lessons transform us and in due time the actual circumstance does change.
But as long as I hold on to my complaint/bitterness, I will relive the same experience in different forms and stop myself from moving forward.
From moving forward, into the lesson and out of the darkness.
“First the pain, then the rising” - Glenn Doyle
It’s vital to acknowledge how the reality of the current state of the world is making you feel but we must remember that there are golden nugget lessons hidden inside of the pain that we feel.
Your trails are introducing you to yourself.
That feels good to say.
Say it out loud to yourself one time :
My trials are introducing me to myself!
They are not destroying me. They are developing me. Teaching me. Training me. Showing me strength that I never knew I had. Molding me into a warrior.
Yes.
We are being introduced to ourselves.
So, if there is a trial in your life that is making you feel weak? You are being introduced to a weak part of yourself that was hiding behind other strong parts.
This part of yourself may be weak right now but it won’t be weak forever.
You will gain muscle here too.
You may feel sore. That’s normal. These are the thrills of the living. You are blooming.
You are being introduced to yourself.
- Don’t stand still because you feel low. Acknowledge the feeling and move.
- You are not your circumstance.
- Perspective greets you as you are moving.
- You are stronger than you think.
- You can do hard things.
- You are not your feelings. Acknowledge them, soothe them, give them attention and keep moving.
- Be patient & kind to yourself.
- You will smile at the end of this trial.
- You are a child of The Most High. You were created for greatness.
- Take it one day at a time my friends. One day at a time.
