The Best Way To Push Yourself Beyond Your Limits

The only obstacle that can get in the way between where you are and where you’re going is your own limited view of yourself.

Your circumstance cannot limit you unless you allow it to by using it as an excuse.

The resources that you lack cannot stop you unless you allow them to by throwing yourself a pity party. They could impulse you towards your creative self instead.

We all have the power to create a limitless mindset and push ourselves beyond what we believe is possible.

I used to have a very weak mindset, shrinking at the sight of any obstacle and complaining as soon as something became too challenging as if life was meant to be easy.

My mindset has been transformed by working out. That has been the best way for me to push myself beyond my limits.

The Habit

Almost two years ago I started the habit of working out because I realized that the more I move my body, the more energy I experience throughout the day and the more joy I have in my soul.

I was such a negative person. Pessimistic Patty over here.

My own attitude started to smell and when I started working out my mind immediately began to change. I started doing 20 minutes of cardio 6 days a week.

Starting easy helps us maintain and build the habit.

Writing down your fitness goal for the day provides you with some level of personal accountability.

That’s what I did and I would write a check mark next to it when I was done with the workout. I still write down my workout goal for the day.

I will always say this : there is so much power in writing things down!

There were days when I DID NOT WANT TO EXERCISE but I did it anyway.

The pain of living beneath my potential outweighed the pain of doing the workouts and sticking to my habit.

Each time you push beyond your feelings by sticking to your habit, you are pushing yourself beyond your limits and experiencing growth.

This is why building healthy habits is so important because when your feelings want to lead you back to your old self, you already have something set in stone that makes it hard for you to give up or back slide.

Sticking to my habit of exercising has let me mind know that I am capable of sticking to ANY habit.

Now, when my mind tells me that I cannot commit to a task, I have proof against that lie and I can win the battle of the mind.

Turn It Up

After about a year of doing my 20 minutes per day of cardio, my body was used to the movement and it was time to turn it up. I found workouts that were more challenging and longer.

Doing this has introduced me to the deepest part of myself.

Have you heard of the expression that says that our true selves are revealed in the fire? WELL HONEY!

As started doing these challenging workouts, negative words that I no longer said began to spill out of my mouth with ease and it seemed as though my old negative mindset came to visit.

“I can’t do this.” “This is too hard.” “I suck at this.”

As I pushed myself to another level, I had to make a choice between remaining within what I had already accomplished or expanding into the possibility of what I could achieve.

So, I had to tell myself to shut up. Yes, I started talking to myself! You have to do that sometimes!

“Yes, I can do this.” “Yes, this is hard but I can do hard things.” “I will get better at this.”

Something wonderful happens when you begin to disagree negative thoughts and replace them with encouragement. You begin to connect with the resilience that is within you. The deepest part of yourself that was built to conquer challenges.

I have learned that the only way to connect with this part of myself is to go beyond what I think I am capable of doing.

The warrior within you rises when you provide the right temperature. You will never meet the warrior while you stay in comfortable weather.

So, turn up the heat my friends.

You can handle it.

Doing this has informed my mind that I can rise above any challenge. I believe that when we manage to move this sack of flesh and bones? We can literally do anything!

This is the best way to push yourself beyond your limits.
